The exhibition

Presented by the DONNADIEU FOUNDATION from 27 September to 17 October 2023 in the Atrium of the Casino de Monaco, the CULTURE(S) exhibition brings together 60 miniature antique sculptures from cultures around the world, in honour of the 60 years devoted to the protection of children around the world by AMADE (Association Mondiale des Amis de l’Enfance), co-founded by Princess Grace and presided over by H.R.H. The Princess of Hanover.

From five continents, spanning 8,000 years of history, with diverse functions, forms and materials, representing Man and Animal in the living world and beyond, these 60 precious creations of great refinement – among the 100 in the collection – have been meticulously selected from around the world by the best specialists, to form a harmonious work representing the diversity of the world’s cultures, brought together in a circle, a symbol of equality, fraternity and eternity.

CULTURE(S) has a dual purpose: in a world tending towards uniformity and communitarianism, it celebrates the richness of humanity’s cultures and the need for their diversity, by bringing them together without compartmentalisation; in a world attached to the monumental, it calls attention to the preciousness and grandeur of the ‘small’ and the need to protect the fragile.

CULTURE(S) is thus a plea for our societies to refocus on cultural diversity and youth, in the image of AMADE’s actions with children, whom it protects without cultural distinction.

To convey these messages, the exhibition will be travelling around the world, in particular to meet young people, so that they can build the world of tomorrow on these values.

Foundation

"Culture gives young people hope for a better future".

The Fondation Donnadieu was created in 2023 under the aegis of the Fondation pour l’Enfance by Ludovic Donnadieu, art collector, chartered accountant and auditor, founder of Donnadieu & Associés, a firm specialising in securing funds entrusted to NGOs.

By organising innovative cultural events on an international scale, the Foundation aims to :

  • enable young people, mainly from disadvantaged backgrounds, to develop their thinking, commitment and open-mindedness, so that they can better understand today’s world and become responsible citizens involved in building a better future;
  • raise awareness among the general public and political decision-makers of the importance of culture for young people, so that they can play their full part in building the world of tomorrow.

We would like to thank the exhibition partners:
